Jakarta (19/07) – PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) demonstrates its strong commitment to build national food security. This subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) is to start the construction for an open access gas pipeline connecting Grissik – PUSRI in order to supply gas for energy and raw materials for PT Pupuk Sriwijaya (PUSRI) in South Sumatera.
The commencement of this project is marked with the Kick-off Meeting and signing of technical documents on Wednesday, July 19th, 2017 at Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta. In this construction project PT Pertagas is teamed up with Consortium of PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind) and PT Wahanakarsa Swandiri as the project contractor.
Grissik-PUSRI pipeline will be built with a diameter of 20 inches along the 176 km passing through two regencies (Banyuasin and Musi Banyuasin) and one city (Palembang) in South Sumatra, which stretches from Grissik Gas Plant ConocoPhillips (COPI) in Grissik, Banyuasin, to PUSRI plant in Palembang City.
In the first year, the volume of gas supply to meet the needs is 30 MMSCFD and the next stage it will be increased to 70 MMSCFD. The source of gas for this segment comes from COPI Grissik Fields with PUSRI as its main consumer.
“We expect this project to be finished in 11 months, so that we can meet the gas demand from PUSRI immediately," said Suko Hartono, President Director Pertagas while addressing a speech at the Kick-off Meeting. He explained that the Rekind was selected as the consortium because they already have extensive experience in building various pipeline projects in Indonesia.
Having awarded this Grissik-PUSRI pipeline project, Rekind expressed their gratitude for the trust given by Pertagas. "Hopefully this synergy can produce quality work, on time and zero accident," said Ad Interim/ Director of Operations & Projects Rekind Jakub Tarigan.
The construction of this new pipeline is expected not only to increase PUSRI’s productivity, but also to ensure energy supply to South Sumatera for both industrial and household needs.
