SURABAYA - In line with the company's transformation program to boost its gas distribution and trading business, President Director of PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) Suko Hartono is making visits to several Pertagas’s customers. The visits aim to assess customers’ needs and potential new business development.
One of the customers Suko has visited was the President Director and the Director of Engineering & Development of PT Petrokimia Gresik (PKG). PKG is one of Pertagas’ main consumers in East Java, with an average daily gas distribution of 64.4 MMSCFD.
Suko explained, they understand well that gas supply, both as energy and as raw materials, is essential for the fertilizer industry to increase production. "For that reason Pertagas tries to learn more about PKG’s needs," Suko said at the meeting on Saturday (30/7), in Surabaya.
In the meeting Pertagas set out a new additional opportunity of distributing 40-50 MMSCFD gas to PKG’s plants using PT Pertagas Niaga’s gas allocation which has not been fully utilized in East Java.
PKG welcomed the offer positively, "This is the kind of initiative that we are always looking for from Pertamina group," said Nugroho Christijanto, President Director of PKG. It is expected that this additional gas distribution will accelerate PKG’s production to meet the national food needs. "We hope the gas would have already flown by September this year," Nugroho continued.
Responding to these challenges Suko promptly ensured that they will do their best to meet PKG’s needs. "Our teams from Commerce and Business Development will sit together to respond to PKG’s request, the gas will be transported through Semare gas pipeline which is currently under construction," said Suko.
This additional gas supply will hopefully help PKG’s task in ensuring Indonesia’s food security. The meeting with PKG was Pertagas's first step to map its customers’ needs. Pertagas is to visit other customers too, such as power plants and other industries.
